Overview

The homo- and heterodimerization of E2A proteins is required for their DNA binding abilities. As discussed earlier, E2A proteins interact with a diverse array of bHLH family members. The main heterodimerization partners for E2A proteins are class II bHLH family members. However, no class II bHLH proteins are expressed in B-lymphoid cells and E47 homodimers have been demonstrated as the predominant E-box binding complex in this case.
