Overview

Elf5 (ESE-2) belongs to Ets family of proteins that contain a conserved DNA binding domain called the ETS domain. Based on the phylogenetic relationship among the conserved ETS domain, Elf5 is assigned to the ESE (Epithelium Specific Ets) subfamily. This clade consists of three highly related factors ESE-1 (also called Elf3, ERT, ESX, jen), ESE-2 and ESE-3 (also called Ehf), all of which exhibit high expression in epithelial cells.
