Isoforms

Two isoforms of RARG exists in human and mouse. RARG1 and G2 are generated by two promoters.[1][2] RARG2 is inducible by retinoids through a retinoic acid response element in its promoter. [3]

Covalent modifications

Apart from ligand binding, the transcriptional activity of RARG is modulated by modifications such as methylation, phosphorylation, sumoylation and ubiquitination. Theses posttranslational modification influence the cellular localization of the receptor, its heterodimerization with RXRs, DNA binding and its degradation[1].
